I first threw a tall cylinder and then let it dry until it was slightly more wet than leather hard. At this soft but not sticky state of the clay, I cut almond shaped pieces out of the clay to create these horn-like and inward curving features. The last thing I did was use the backs of different size paint brushes to create the patterns of dimples from outside the vase.
I love the way that matte white glaze catches along the dimples and curves with varying thickness which creates highlighting effects.
