Rods bod clay has larger pieces of iron throughout the clay, which creates these deep speckles in the glaze. I dipped this vase in matte white. The reason why you see a brighter white in the top 1/3 of the vase is because I first dip from bottom up and then I finish by dipping the top with white in case I missed any parts at the top. I like that this process creates slightly different shades of white.
