This might have been the tallest vase I had thrown at the time, but it began to collapse on one side of itself because I wasn't consistent in the thickness of my walls as I threw. Sometimes this is caused by an air bubble or a thicker lump in the clay that continues to get caught as it comes around back to your fingers. To save the piece, I decided to torch the clay to stiffen the structure so I could use my hands to lift it back up. In the end, this looks like a hand-built vase with a very organic look.
Dipping the round lower half in glazes made what looked to me like mountains. So, I decided to glaze three white circles above the mountains to represent a growing moon.
