This was one of the first vases I made where I finally felt comfortable shaping a shoulder on a vase. At this time in my pottery experience, I trimmed the foot to just ensure it was cleaned up and could stand flat on a surface. Nowadays, I like to soften the edges because it feels nicer to touch and might also help prevent chipping.
The outside glaze here was one of my favorites to use during that time: Sun Valley laguna glaze. It's a rutile-based glaze that creates many layers of colors.
Firing: Reduction highfire
Clay: Bmix
Made with glazes at Clay Arts Vegas and Laguna Sun Valley glaze
