It's very subtle, but there are actually two glazes used on this vase. I dipped the top half at an angle in zap blue and then I dipped the entire outside of the vase in rutile pink. Rutile pink can create a highlighting effect on some glazes, without it, the zap blue would have come out as a darker navy blue color. The stripes of raw clay here were created by first putting on thin strips of masking tape before dipping in glaze.
