ABOUT vase 55

For some reason, matte white glaze is most sensitive to getting this blush effect. If you place a piece next to another piece that has a copper glaze, the copper will evaporate during the firing and create this pink blush on a nearby piece. This happens most easily on matte white glazes.

I had a lot of fun using the masking tape to create this pattern on this sphere vase. It makes me think of a sea urchin =)

Firing: Reduction highfire

Clay: Tuff Buff

Made with glazes at Echo Ceramics
